The Amazing Spiderman

There cannot be many people on this planet who are yet to discover Spiderman. Spiderman is not only a childhood hero, as he is hidden in the lives of most of us. With what is the fourth motion picture Spiderman movie, The Amazing Spiderman brings a story looking at a different angle from what others have brought in the past. Having seen the film myself, I believe it will be one of the blockbusters of the year. Now to be released simultaneously with the movie in the cinema, Gameloft have produced and iOS app relevant to the movie. This game takes place after the movie, so has an original storyline.

Playable On
iPhone 4 and 4S, iPod Touch 4th Gen and iPad 2 and 3.

Playing as Peter Parker, the aim of the game is to travel across the city defeating enemies and saving civilians. You're able to swing with your webs and perform great combos when fighting enemies. The controls are quite simple to understand though can become frustrating at times, especially when crashing into building by accident. This is becoming a common problem with these sorts of games, due to iOS devices not having real to use. Although different actors voices are used to the movie, the game is still realistic within the story.

Reasons to Buy
With realistic visuals, this is a must have for any Spiderman fan. Gameloft have done a great job producing this app for iOS. It is a free roam game meaning that you can travel anyway and do what you like with no specific mission order to follow. This means that the way you play will be different every time, meaning that if you have friends playing it, it won't be the same order in which you play the game. This game reminds me a lot of playing on my PlayStation 2 as a child on various Marvel games. This game is great to bring back old childhood memories.

Reasons Not to Buy
As previously mentioned, the controls can get frustrating at times as well as a constant loss of framerate when in battles with enemies. The app also costs £4.99/$6.99 which is pretty steep for an iOS game. The file size is also massive which can cause slow downloads of the game and can fill up a huge chuck of memory.

Rating
Taking into account some of the problems that come with this game, I don't feel that this is good value for money, though there is great potential with future updates. If the games problems are fixed then I will feel more satisfied. Currently though I am going to give it three stars out of five.

Summary
A fun and exciting app with frustrating controls.
